Pharmacology is the study of how drugs interact with living systems. Our department explores the therapeutic effects, mechanisms of action, side effects, and toxicities of various medications. We aim to understand human physiology to combat diseases effectively.
The department plays a crucial role in the pre-clinical evaluation of new drugs. Students are trained to use sophisticated animal models (and computer simulations) to test the efficacy and safety of new chemical and herbal entities before they enter human clinical trials.
CPCSEA approved central animal house facility for ethical breeding and experimentation on rodents.
Equipped with digital polygraphs, plethysmometers, rotarods, and Ex-Pharm simulation software to reduce animal use.
Our thrust areas of research encompass finding novel pharmacological interventions for chronic conditions.
Tie-ups with leading Contract Research Organizations (CROs) for student placements in Pharmacovigilance and Clinical Data Management.
Regular guest lectures by medical experts and clinical pharmacologists from renowned hospitals.
